TWISTER DANCE SlumberJumber Party Themes

By Award-Winning Author Wilhelminia Ripple, Author of
Slumber Parties…What Do I Do?®

Theme 4: Twister Dance Club Party

Bring the decades together to host an interesting party that the girls never forget!

Decorations:

               What you’ll need to prepare:

·        Make ‘60s single records and albums from poster board

·        Create labels with record songs and album cover names using each guest as the performer. Attach the records to the ceiling using fishing line.

·        Make disco balls from the ‘70s by spray-painting beach balls with silver glitter spray paint. Hang the disco balls to the ceiling with fish line.

Invitations:

Purchase large, aviator sunglasses and write all necessary party information on the lenses, including what decade you want the guest to dress up like. Wear the glasses to the sleepover.

Food and Refreshments:

Dinner: Cheeseburgers, Fries, and Chili Dogs. Pretend like you’re in a real ’50’s diner!

Drinks: Milkshakes and Root Beer Floats

Midnight Snacks: Create a Popcorn Bar with all kinds of popcorn such as yellow, white, caramel, cheese and toppings such as peanuts and assorted candies.

Breakfast: Set up a Cereal Bar with milk, fruit, and cereals that originated in the 80’s: Alpha-Bits, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, Cookie Crisp, Frosted Mini-Wheats, Wheaties, and Cocoa Pebbles.

Activity 1: Play TWISTER DANCE DVD game (Twister Dance Club Session)

Activity 2: Scrapbooking the Decades

Take pictures throughout the night with a digital camera and/or Polaroid. A parent should make copies of the pictures on the computer. Give each girl a 12 X 12 scrapbook page. Divide the page in half to create a ‘50s and ‘60s area on one side, and a ‘70s and ‘80s area on the other side. Give the girls the pictures from the evening, as well as and stickers and scrapbooking materials.

Activity 3: Play Twister Dance Videos

Film the girls playing the TWISTER DANCE DVD game at the beginning of the night. At midnight, watch the video while eating from the Popcorn Bar. Let the laughter begin!

Favors:

Each girl can take home a disco ball, albums or records hanging on the ceiling and their scrapbook page. More favors can be videos, music or assorted decade items.
